Are You Rising Up?

Rise up! This phrase is being echoed across America as an estimated 100 million people prepare to watch the New England Patriots and the Atlanta Falcons in Super Bowl LI.  Whether a Patriots or Falcons loyalist, football fans are rising up to support the sport and their favorite team. As I watch the excitement for the pending big game and even participating in the hype myself, I can’t help but wonder how many of the 100 million fans are rising up to accomplish their own dreams. How about you? Are you rising up for your dreams?  Or, are you sitting in the stands watching others achieve their dreams?

Just about everyone has a dream or two but it is estimated that about 80% of all people do not have a plan for achieving their dreams. Of the 20% of people who have a plan, about 70% of them actually achieve their goals.  Why? Career and Life Coaches site reasons for this low achievement rate from fear-of-success to negative environments. Nevertheless, a lack of a plan and goal setting is believed to be a major contributor to why people do not achieve their personal dreams. In my practice, a simple tool I call the Vision Plan has been instrumental in getting clients from inactivity to achieving goals and realizing dreams.

To rise up is to lift oneself up. It is about moving forward and taking action. Teams do not make it to the battle for the Vince Lombardi Trophy without the individuals on the team lifting themselves up through countless hours of preparation. This is true for each of us.

In order to get to where you want to be, you must rise up from excuses, fear, and indifference and move into action.  As you celebrate the big game on Sunday, ask yourself these three questions:

  1. If I invested 10% of the time and money I’ve spent on the Super Bowl towards my dream, I could ____________?

  2. To rise up, I will need to _________________________________.

  3. What one thing could I do right now to create excitement about my dreams?

Rising up requires taking a hard look at where you are and what it will take to get to where you want to be. If you’re ready to rise up by preparing for your future, click here for a free copy of the Yvette Gavin Consulting Vision Plan.
