Planning to meet your goals for you and your horse is important in making these dreams come true. Planning should begin with your own goals and aspirations. This should then be discussed with your trainer and other personal advisors you feel give you good input.

Develop seasonal, annual and 5 year goals for your horse.

Once these goals have been made THEN consult your veterinarian to work to ensure your horse is capable of performing to these levels. If certain performance issues need to be addressed it is always better to work to prevent them from being a problem rather than having to work last minute to correct the problem.

Proper preventative maintenance and performance evaluation will be likely to give you insight into the likelihood of your horse reaching your goals. It will also give you a better idea what will most likely be required both in effort and monetarily to likely reach these levels.

Suggestions and Comments may include timely joint maintenance/injections (where appropriate), the proper use of Adequan and Legend. Underlying problems to watch for and their Corrections. Working with your Farrier to Ensure a Reliable Hoof, Etc.

No matter what, prevention is LESS Costly, MORE reliable and EASIER than last minute treatment.

Last minute problems will result in BIGGER bills, LESS reliable performance and LESS sound horses in the long run.

Everyone invests a lot of themselves and a lot of effort into their individual sports and goals. Take the time to plan and watch these goals become a reality!

Good Luck this Next Year!
