Community Partnerships

An phot of a honey bee community working together outside the hive

Photo is of my honey bees drinking water from hemp strings I placed in the pond to help ensure their safety.

I created this community partnerships page in order to link members of different communities together so that we all may support one another. Please take a moment to peruse these beautiful people and their gifts.

My own community partnership interaction reaches into many arenas.

During the short time I have been here in Colorado, I have volunteered my time weekly with an equine facility working with disabled children. A powerful way to give to the community, to develop trust with children in difficult circumstances and be with the magnificent horses who bring so much to all who interact with them. I also volunteered with another equine program who works with veterans, soldiers in trauma, both men and women soldiers. This was an extraordinary program which I am honored to have been a part.

I was asked to write a piece for International Peace Day in 2015 by a wonderful woman, Signe Ramstrom, who lives in Crestone, Colorado. She hosted a beautiful event to honor this day and I wrote and read my piece to the community who came together. You can hear the piece I created if you so choose, as it is recorded, in the speaking engagements section under the Enlightened Writing and Media Section of my website.

While living in Arizona, I created my Mayan Raw Cacao Cafe as both a healing space through connecting with the power of raw cacao and rainforest nutrition as well as being a space for community to come together and meet for meditation, personal celebrations as well as being a quiet, healing space for friends to come and have time together while partaking in my Mayan foods.

Also during my time in Arizona, I was a cast member of the Vagina Monologues three years in a row helping to raise consciousness in stopping violence towards women. It was a very powerful experience as the monologues are all true accounts, interviews from women all over the world, not to mention the courage it takes to stand in front of hundreds of people speaking about very delicate subjects. All of the money we raised through our performances went towards helping stop domestic violence locally while opening and expanding community awareness. I was also a cast member for a powerful play called "BIRTH" by Karen Brody. A play focused upon bringing better choices, positive change and support for birthing mothers in the American Heathcare System.

I volunteered at Hospice specifically with the gardens, growing and drying teas for the residents while also developing a very close relationship with a man transitioning from Lou Gehrigs disease. The blessings we shared touched deep levels of caring, gentleness and friendship.

I worked, volunteering my time with High Country Raptors. An amazing Bird of Prey program which offered weekend talks to the community about different types of birds of prey, impacts from environmental stressors, action steps for the public in helping to protect and support these remarkable birds. Yet another highly educational and special program to have been a member of for a time.

Jess Wiley - Artist Profile

Jess Wiley and I met at an equine facility which works with disabled children. When I asked to see her artwork, her talent amazed me. I asked her to do a piece of my horse and I together from a photograph that I adored. She is a very gifted young woman whom I am honored to support. Please take some time to look at her work and feel free to contact her if you would like a to have a beautiful and unique drawing of a loved one to cherish. The barnwood she uses completes her pieces with an earthy wholeness.
