Dinosaur WorldLocated at exit 17 right on Interstate 4, Dinosaur World offers up a selection of over 150 life-sized replicas of these monsters which once ruled the earth. This outdoor park features hikes along which you may stop and admire the many giant dinosaur statues and also read informative plaques to find out facts about these creatures.
Visit the playground or picnic area or see what fantastic souvenirs await you in the gift shop. Let the kids play in the boneyard, a sandbox where they can dig for treasures. The fossil dig allows children 3 to 12 to sift through sand looking for real fossils of which they can keep up to 3. There is a $2 cost to participate in the “dig.” Fossil finds include sea urchins, amber, ammonites, sharks teeth, shells, and dinosaur bone bits.
Admission prices are $14.95 for adults, $11.95 for children 3 to 12, and $12.95 for seniors. Although many visitors consider the models cheesy and not very scientifically accurate, they enjoy the campy feel of the attraction and its swamp setting. It is, however, important to note that this park does embrace a creationist view of prehistoric life and most scientists do not endorse the attraction as an educational destination for this reason.
