Crystal River, Florida is known for its prime location on Florida’s Gulf Coast. With a tradition of fishing and scalloping, it is no wonder that one of Crystal River’s most popular annual festivals is the Stone Crab Jam, a celebration of good food, good music and good times.
This year, 2016, marks the 9th annual Stone Crab Jam festival which is scheduled for November 5th. If you missed the festivities last year, don’t worry, the Stone Crab Jam looks to keep growing and getting even better with age. Music usually includes blues performers, classic rock, rock and reggae but the eclectic line up can surprise you with other local acts too.
Thinking about the festival makes most people’s mouth water. The food there is beyond good. There is a cook off as part of the event and many vendors who come out for the festival to serve choice items like clams, shrimp, Philly cheese steaks, sausages, burgers, nachos, knish, hot dogs, kettle corn, Italian ice, scallops, and, of course, boiled crabs.
Visitors to the Stone Crab Jam can also do some holiday shopping with many vendors selling their handmade local crafts like jewelry, leather work, home decor and Florida-themed souvenirs. If you're coming to town for the Stone Crab Jam and need a place to stay, we have you covered. Our Quality Inn of Hernando is only 20 minutes from the festival venue.
