According to the law that governs Adult Family Homes in the State of Washington, all prospective clients must have a completed comprehensive assessment prior to their placement in an Adult Family Home, Boarding Home or Assisted Living facility. The assessment must be completed by a qualified individual under the assessor guidelines. The assessment involves a physical exam, psycho-social history, and a medical history review to establish the care needed to support the resident, and if the home can provide the care. The actual paper copy of the assessment is approximately 25 to 30 pages, and can take up to four hours to complete.
After the completion of the assessment a copy is retained by the facility, and used to determine if additional services are required for the resident when the negotiated care plan is created.
