Flu Vaccines and Ear Infections

Many parents still refuse flu vaccine for their children. Many pediatricians are also not aggressive in promoting flu vaccines as flu itself is not dangerous for infants and children. However, flu vaccines definitely help to make life easier for parents from one bothersome and frequent problem: ear infection in children. Influenza vaccine showed 32% reduction in incidence of otitis media (middle ear infection) in children 6-30 months of age in day-care centers (Sonnenberg, W.R., 2013). I would say that is an additional reason why parents should be encouraged to give flu vaccine for their children.
New Information on Flu Vaccines
New information on flu vaccines as a result of different studies show that there is about 50% chance of suffering from Flu even after receiving flu vaccines. However, the most important and promising fact is that the chance of dying from complications of flu infection is almost eliminated if you receive flu vaccine. The disease you in those who are immunized is much milder with very minimal chance of any sever complication. That is one reason all us should receive flu vaccine every year.
