Another Year Almost Gone

November 11, 2016

Time has gone by so fast this past year...  Kahlua has remained the #1 Chinese Crested in All Breed Points and we are fortunate to have Truman (GCH Sunlit Kaylen's Hairy Truman) and Kai (GCH Kaylen's General Kai Panda) in the Top 20.  Kennel and show duties have kept us pretty busy all year.  This is not always an easy business to be in, but we at Kaylen's Show Kennel have had some people stick with us through tough times and make the task as hand a bit easier.  It is because of my assistants and friends that I was able to enjoy a Hawaiian vacation with family and enjoy some much needed time off to relax.  I thank all who have helped along the way as I could not step away to enjoy this time without you.We have had litters of standard poodles and Chinese crested that have kept us not only busy, but entertained as well.  We sent our beautiful Striker to China and soon our Brandon will join his new handler to go on to new adventures overseas as well.  As we prepare for the...

Farewell 2015

December 30, 2015

It seems this year has gone by so fast.  My knee is finally doing much better and I have been able to get back to showing dogs at my full potential.Perhaps the biggest news of the year was the decision made by Ginny & myself to send Kahlua (Multiple BIS/BISS ENG/AM GCH Kaylen's Kahlua) to the West Coast.  We are thankful to Shirley & Michael Frumkin for taking on our superstar for 2016!  Kahlua is now owned by the Frumkin's, myself & Ginny, and he will be shown to perfection by Tammy Seidlitz!  We look forward to 2016 for Kahlua and his West Coast family!Looking back, Team Kaylen's has been rewarded with so much over the year.  Not only did I have great help both at the kennel and on the road, but I was also fortunate to have friends and clients who helped out when necessary, and a longtime assistant who has helped with tedious paperwork.  It is because of my team that I can also take time to enjoy some time away from dog shows once in a while, so to ALL of you who are a part of...

A successful start to 2015

May 6, 2015

So far this year has started well.  Lots of wonderful dogs to show and owners who have been very helpful.  While Kay has experienced some setbacks with her knee, she is still actively showing and getting the job done.  It is because of quality dogs to show, owners who put their faith in Kay, and assistants who work endlessly that Team Kaylen's remains successful.  One must also note that the support received from fellow handlers, breeders and friends has also been a large part of the team's success. After a beautiful showing at the Poodle Club of America National Specialty, we said goodbye to Louie- AM GCH Serekunda Only On Sunday, as he traveled back to his home in England.  We are thankful to the Austin's for allowing Louie to stay with us while completing his championship and grand championship. We also welcomed back Teeter, GCH Targa Talk About Kaylen's, who ended his show career at PCA.  He will reside at Kaylen's until he travels to his new home where he is sure to be more...

Gearing Up for 2015

December 28, 2014

The 2014 show year ended with many wonderful wins and new champions.  I would like to take this time to thank the clients who sent their wonderful dogs to Kaylen's to be shown.  Thank you also to my assistants, who I am not only grateful for, but proud of all their many accomplishments in the ring as well.  Some are Junior handlers and some are aging out.  Some are learning the ropes as they go, but all are the true future of our sport and I hope that I have contributed to their future ethics and success.  I'd also like to take time to thank the people who work behind the scenes, those at the kennel while I am at shows, those who take on other tasks to help out when I am overloaded, and those who simply make things a bit easier when the schedule is so hectic.I cannot forget the fellow breeders, exhibitors, and handlers who have been there to help out this year.  It was a bit trying at times with my knee, but thanks to some amazing people I am proud to call friends, dogs made it to...

September 2014

September 3, 2014

It seems as though 2014 has gone by so quickly.  August of this year we said goodbye to Ross, CH Kaylen's Reason To Believe, and while he i no longer with us physically, he is always here with us.  His son Thomas reminds me of that every day.We took a trip to England with Kahlua and Louie.  Louie is now home with his mum Margaret Austin in the UK.  Kahlua was shown three times while there.  Leeds, Paignton and Bournemouth were wonderful settings in the English countryside that provided us with good friends and good times.  Kahlua was Best Dog every time he showed and achieved 3 CC's to completed his English title.  We are so proud of this young dog.Upon our return, Kahlua's sister Bailey finished her championship and Kahlua remained a Top 5 Chinese Crested.  In his first 8 shows back, he has won the Breed 6 times and had 3 Group Two placements.  The Liz puppies and Bikini puppies are doing fantastic and we have a litter of beautiful silver standards here at Kaylen's.Many thanks to...

As we welcome 2014, I would like to take the time to thank all of my friends and family and clients for their support in the past year. Having beautiful dogs to show and wonderful friends in my assistants and clients made this year as good as possible, the knee replacement was a trying time and everyone stood by me. Many thanks to all who pitched in and helped to carry the load, especially the behind the scenes helpers, and other handlers.Having ended the year with a bang, I have high hopes for the new year to be a great one!!
