Enjoy beautiful coastal seascapes along Crystal River’s Fort Island Gulf Beach. This white sand beach is half a mile long and crescent-shaped and offers up a panoramic of the Gulf of Mexico dotted with seashells and seagulls.  Fort Island Gulf Beach is a family friendly favorite in the area because if its free admission, ample free parking, onsite restrooms and showers, boardwalks for strolling and frequent dolphin sightings.

The pier at Fort Island Gulf Beach provides an amazing view of the Gulf of Mexico, sightseeing of the various sea birds and dolphins that are common to the coast, and saltwater fishing.  A boat dock and ramp are located at the beach for those who prefer fishing off shore or simply enjoying the gentle motion of the gulf waves.  Salt marshes surround parts of the beach and natural hummocks can be seen along parts of the beach.  Heavily forested areas border much of the beach and some fall within the Crystal River Preserve.

For families spending the day at the beach, there are picnic facilities on site which include tables, pavilions, and charcoal grills.  Just remember, pets are not allowed at this beach so your precious pets will have to stay at home.  Whether you are picnicking, swimming, boating, fishing, soaking in the sunshine, or watching the stunning, brightly colored sunsets, Fort Island Gulf Beach is the ideal place to do so in Citrus County, Florida.
