GradeWorks, LLC was established on January 1st, 2012 by Chuck and Ben Counts to provide construction surveying services, GPS construction consultations, GPS machine control modeling and 3D file preparation, machine control operator training and plan quantity take-offs for contractor estimates. We are lifelong residents of Marion County and our family has been in the construction industry for the last 60 years. Chuck Counts became a registered land surveyor in the state of Florida in 1988. Ben Counts has been a site work estimator, working in both Florida and New York. Our experience for decades has been providing these services as consultants and employees of large site work & heavy highway contractors, constructing some of the largest projects in Florida.

Chuck Counts is a registered land surveyor in the state of Florida with experience working in all aspects of the land surveying industry, but construction surveying has always been his passion. Chuck has been the vice president of an engineering company in Gainesville, worked as a project manager for the Marion County Engineering Department, general superintendent of a site work company and most recently the executive position of survey department manager and licensed surveyor of a company whose annual gross income exceeded $100 million. He managed eight layout crews and six office personnel which performed conventional surveying, GPS surveying layout and asbuilt surveying of all the projects constructed by the company, along with the implementation, training and maintenance of all GPS surveying and GPS machine control equipment. Chuck has been professionally trained by Topcon Positioning in California for GPS surveying and machine control, additionally Chuck served as a member of Topcon’s Advisory Council on Technology providing feedback to the developers of their innovative GPS technology and beta testing numerous new and revised products.
Ben Counts has been a sitework estimator for large contractors. As lead estimator for a 750+ employee corporation, Ben produced estimates for mass grading, sitework, and heavy highway projects. In New York, Ben was the sitework estimator for a site work and general contracting company. He estimated and managed all projects for Chesapeake Gas and Energy projects in New York and Pennsylvania which consisted of preparing sites for natural gas drill rigs and after the drilling was complete, clean up and disposing of all drillings. Ben is proficient in Agtek Earthwork 3d, Agtek Materials 3d, Agtek Sitemodel, HCSS estimating software, Bid 2 Win and other estimating and quantity takeoff software.
