Piercing Blog 1- Microdermals!

May 29, 2014

Many people out there love the look of dermals, but view them as something to be admired, not had. You may think to yourself that it is too painful, or that you just can't rock it, but this is just not the case! Now that i have decided to call Ocala home, you can get them in the least painful way possible. I have put aside many tools over the years in my quest to grow as a piercer, and fortunately have learned a trick or 3 along the way. i use a different technique and insert dermals into a tiny incision created at the site of the piercing. They heal up quicker and tighter than those inserted via biopsy punch, and, in the event of removal, leave a nominal amount of scar tissue. Because of the techniques I employ, I am one of the few piercers that has received permission from the Marion County Dept. of Health to offer removal services. Oftentimes I will remove an ill-placed dermal, and my new client will come back to have it reinserted after the skin heals.  A word on...

RAW Papers

May 5, 2014

A pure, less processed rolling paper that is light brown in color because it is blended with unbleached fibers and are extremely thin, so then you can practically see through them. They are the only papers on the market that are totally chlorine free, gluten free, and vegan friendly! Each paper is watermarked with their patented crisscross, this watermark helps prevent runs and helps maintain a smooth even-burning. The papers have a natural gum on them; you only need a little bit of moisture to get them to stick. For the gum they use a blend of the sugar and the acacia gums powder with hemp, which creates less ash and a smoother flavor with a slower burn.  While RAW Classic is already exceptionally clean it can get ‘cleaner’ with RAW Organic, which is made from organically grown chlorine free pure hemp and is processed in a very eco-friendly way which results in an extra slow and extra clean burn. If you are a habitual RAW roller you might want to invest in the RAW...

Diamond in the Rough

January 22, 2014

I went in to Doc of Rock basically on a whim to get my nostril pierced. I am not into the piercing or tattoo scene at all. I was ready to back out the first sign I saw of anything that unnerved me. I got there less than an hour before closing. The first guy was great, explained everything, then had me fill out the paperwork while he went to get the 'piercer'. I was ready to bolt. When the piercer came out from the back of the shop, before I could form first impressions based on a visual, I was overwhelmed by his spirit. He was patient and kind and knowledgable. I trusted him instantly. He has amazing Caribbean sea green eyes, and a calm demeanor. Bottom line: my nostril is pierced, it looks great, it didn't hurt, and I met an amazing, talented spirit in Ocala. Oh yeah, I forgot to mention he looks like a pirate. Thanks, Captain Jack. You rock.

Should put other local shops out of business

January 22, 2014

Third time's a charm. After going to another local tattoo/piercing shop in the same vicinity, I chose to go to Doc of Rock. Not only were they 100% more professional, the after care they provided while I was there was amazing. The "other" place I had gone to, not once, but twice because of the huge growth that developed on my piercing was very rude, and did not provide proper after care. Definitely will go back to DOR for ALL other piercings. Thanks SO much for excellent service!!!
