Open Arms Village, Inc. (OAV) assists homeless men who are ready to leave homelessness behind and work towards independence. OAV provides a safe place to sleep, private shower/bathroom facilities, laundry facilities, a living area with a TV and computer and three meals a day. A case manager works with the residents to help them budget their pay once they are working so that they can pay off legal fees, pay child support, fins, etc. and save 80% of the remaining money that they earn. OAV provides opportunities for medical appointments in partnership with Three Angels Clinic; GED services through MTC (formerly CTAE); mental health counseling with a contract Mental Health Counselor Intern; legal counseling through Community Legal Services; literacy tutoring through the Literacy Council; and many other services as needed. Residents must work with the Case Manager and show progress towards independence to stay in the program. There is no cost to residents and the program is entirely supported through public donations and small foundation grants.
