A View of Tuscawilla by Renzo Seravalle Artist Garden Concept Plan Ocala Cultural Corridor

The Community Foundation is honored to welcome the Tuscawilla Cultural Projects to our growing family of cultural initiative funds.

ART PARK AT TUSCAWILLA

The Art Park Matching Grant Fund courtesy of the Rick and Nancy Moskovitz Foundation will enable Phase I construction in partnership with the City of Ocala.   The Art Park's landscape design will create an environment for both the creation and enjoyment of visual and performing art through exhibit spaces for outdoor sculpture, working spaces for visual artists, and intimate entertainment spaces for performing artists.  Built adjacent to the historic Ocala Union Station, it is strategically located at the north end of the proposed Osceola Linear Park just east of the main terminal facing NE 5th Street.

The Project Design includes four phases over a four year time frame.  The grant funding for Phase I includes infrastructure, hardscape, landscape and amenities including share canopies and benches.   Phases II, III, IV will inclde the addition of sculptures, a chimney swift bird tower complex and a unique water feature.

The Art Park at Tuscawilla will further the cultural arts renaissance currently underway in the Ocala Central Business District. As another key component of the Tuscawilla Park Master Plan, the Art Park compliments both existing and future cultural investments including the Discovery Center; the repurposing of the City Auditorium as the Reilly Arts Center - home to the Ocala Symphony Orchestra; the annual Ocala Outdoor Sculpture Competition; and the Magnolia Art Exchange - flexible and creative work space for visual artists.

Groundbreaking and construction began in late Fall 2015.

The Magnolia Art Xchange — known as MAX — is Ocala’s first art incubator, and it is set in historic Union Station. MAX is designed to further visual artists’ creativity and professionalism; to be a collaborative resource hub for artists, educators and art enthusiasts; and to dramatically expand the cultural presence in Ocala.

The Community Foundation was pleased to offer our support of this arts incubator project and is honored to house the Passthrough Fund for MAX's fundraising efforts.
