Business sustainability for fitness Pro's - Orlando Florida

Class: THURSDAY, OCTOBER 17TH 1:15-02:45Pm #110

William Baun, EPD, CWP, FAWHP

Globally, employers are facing three challenges to workforce capacity and productivity: a talent shortage, an aging population, and the high incidence of chronic diseases. Employee wellness once viewed as a nice extra has now become a strategic imperative. Employers recognize they are uniquely positioned to improve the health and well-being of their workers through workplace wellness initiatives that are linked to business sustainability. But the rapid growth of worksite wellness has put pressure on the industry to find practitioners who understand motivation, and the processes leading to sustainable behavior change. This session will look at worksite wellness as the future for Fitness Pros.

William B. Baun has 34 years of experience in worksite wellness and is the Wellness Officer at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, which was the first healthcare system and NCI-designated Cancer System to receive the CEO Cancer Gold Standard Accreditation. In March of 2012, the Houston Business Journal named MD Anderson the Healthiest Employer in Houston in the 5,000 or more employees during their Healthiest Employers awards. He is President of the National Wellness Institute, and serves on the Board of the International Association Worksite Health Promotion, Houston Wellness Association, and CAN DO a childhood obesity community program. His latest article “What’s the Hard Return on Employee Wellness Program? The ROI data will surprise you, and the softer evidence may inspire you.” was published in the Harvard Business Review. His latest book, Healthy Women at Work was released by GlaxoSmithKline. He is a cancer survivor and his passion is wellness!
